Dr. Comstock oversees academic programming, curriculum development, Keystone testing, and teacher support. She recently completed her Doctorate in Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago in Urban Education Leadership, a program nationally recognized for innovation, quality, and leadership preparation.
Prior to working at Charter Arts, Carise worked in Chicago Public Schools as an Instructional Support Leader for thirty-one schools on the southwest side of Chicago. She worked intimately with principals, leadership teams, and teachers to develop strategic plans and align curriculum with the Common Core State Standards. She led instructional rounds and district-wide professional learning opportunities that focused on utilizing student data as the catalyst for teacher reflection, collaboration, and differentiated instruction. Prior to her time as an instructional support leader, she held numerous leadership positions within Chicago Public Schools and the Oak Park School District and also taught language arts for seven years.
Carise also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education (English and Communications) from Duquesne University and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from DePaul University.
