Giving to The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts

“Charter Arts has been the foundation for all my artistic and social growth.  Without this school, there would be no me.  I consistently say to prospective students that if you want your life to be changed – come to Charter Arts.  Live your dream.”  Charter Arts Alum, Class of 2007

This statement made six years ago holds true today.  Every year students declare that their experience at Charter Arts has made a profound difference in their lives.  A gift made to the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts will support the education of young people who benefit every day from Charter Arts’ unique arts centered education.

Charter Arts opened in 2003 offering high school students passionate about the arts a place of their own to create and develop into young artists and thinkers. Charter Arts is one of only two charter high schools for the arts in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  The other charter high school for the arts is located outside of Pittsburgh.  Charter Arts attracts students from a twelve-county region representing over forty-five separate school districts.

Charter schools in Pennsylvania operate on a formula of 75% of funding received in the home school district through state, federal funding and local taxes. This formula provides $1.5 million less in funding per year to Charter Arts than a traditional public school receives for the same enrollment. Funds raised through the Parent Association, the Charter Arts Foundation and the development department provide resources for the school and serve all artistic and academic departments. A gift to Charter Arts helps each student reach his or her creative potential and prepare for a successful future.
