DESCRIPTION:The Adult Enrichment Workshop Series (AEWS) program at Charter Arts is open to the public and offers a variety of fun and engaging workshops and seminars. Some workshops are taught by Charter Arts’ acclaimed faculty and some are taught by visiting artists.  Come join us for some great training and great fun all wrapped into one.  This program operates as a fundraiser for the school. A Deep Dive Into Art Appreciation: Demystifying Art with Roger Brinker  Thursday evenings\, 6-8 PM    Start date: October 3\, 2019 (runs for 4 consecutive Thursdays)  This lecture series will help you discover how to look at a drawing\, painting\, or sculpture with a probing eye. Learn to see beyond the image and find the artistic elements common to realistic and abstract artworks. Develop the confidence to make your own artistic opinions.  Brinker will take the art admirer on a profound exploration into the history of art\, tracing the genealogy of artists through their training with master artists in the academies and art schools of France and Italy all the way to the beginning of Western art. Ideal for beginner to advanced art enthusiasts.   Fee: $75 Individual.  $65 Couple/Buddy Pass – 2 or more registered at the same time. Among the small group of talented artists still devoted to traditional photographic methods\, Carol Front and David Haas for decades have paid tribute to the history and beauty of rural and industrial scenery of the greater Lehigh Valley and beyond. Although Haas has printed Front’s photographs for many years\, while sharing an affinity for evocative and historical imagery\, these gifted artists have never before exhibited together. Dr. Christine I. Oaklander is guest curator for the exhibition. Self-taught\, his work is represented in private and public collections including: The Museum of Fine Art Houston\, Lehigh University\, The Free Library of Philadelphia\, and The Kresge Museum of Art.  Anderson’s major bodies of work are STEEL and the ongoing project CADILLAC. An accomplished photographer\, Anderson travels the world creating dynamic photographs for editorial and advertising clients. Anderson is renowned as a photographic printer and started WILBUREDITIONS\, a publisher of small handmade editions.      Christine I. Oaklander is an independent art historian and private art consultant with thirty years of expertise in the field of American art. She earned the M.A. in art history from Williams College and the Ph.D. in American art history from the University of Delaware. Prior employers include the New-York Historical Society\, the Brandywine River Museum\, and the pre-eminent American art dealer Ira Spanierman. From 2001-2006\, she was Director of Collections and Exhibitions at the Allentown Art Museum; from 2006-2013\, she served as Arts Coordinator for Lehigh Valley Health Network. Currently\, Dr. Oaklander works with private and institutional clients in buying\, selling\, and researching art as well as organizing exhibitions. She is an advocate for many living artists and arts organizations in the greater Lehigh Valley.

DESCRIPTION:The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts Visual Art Department presents its annual Winter Art Exhibit\, December 4-January 8 in the Charter Arts Gallery\, 321 East 3rd Street\, Bethlehem.  An Opening Reception will be held on Friday\, December 4\, 6p-9p\, during  South Bethlehem's First Friday celebration.  The exhibit includes a wide selection of student artwork in a variety of mediums- photography\, painting\, drawing.  The Opening Reception is a free event and will include light refreshments\, caricatures created by student artists\, and artist demonstrations.  There will also be a presentation of poetry readings taking place in the school's Commons Cafe.  Come join us!!
