In 2015, Dr. Comstock completed her Doctorate in Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) in Urban Education Leadership, a program nationally recognized for innovation, quality, and leadership preparation.  Prior to working at Charter Arts, Dr. Comstock worked in Chicago Public Schools as an Instructional Support Leader for thirty-one schools on the southwest side of Chicago and held numerous leadership positions within Chicago Public Schools and Oak Park School District #97.  She got her start in education as a middle school Language Arts teacher.

Throughout her career, Dr. Comstock has focused on building community and teams to accomplish shared goals.  She has worked with leadership teams and teachers to develop strategic plans and align curriculum with the Common Core State Standards and subject-specific arts standards.  As an instructional leader, she facilitated summer data workshops, instructional rounds, and district-wide professional learning opportunities, and she specializes in utilizing qualitative and quantitative data as the catalyst for teacher reflection, collaboration, differentiated instruction, and continuous improvement.  Dr. Comstock believes that a school opened to and supported by the community inspires success, and she looks forward to collaborating with students, teachers, parents, the community, the Foundation Board, and the School Board to help Charter Arts in achieving its vision and mission in the coming years.

Dr. Comstock also holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from DePaul University and also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education (English and Communications) from Duquesne University.
