Kate DeSisto grew up north of Boston. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Syracuse University with a concentration in choral and general music. She had the pleasure of studying voice with Patti Thompson-Buechner, choral conducting with Dr. John Warren, and organ with Dr. Kola Owolabi, and was the recipient of the Earl George Choral Award for her contributions to the University choral program.
After graduation, Kate returned to the North Shore of Massachusetts where she taught general and choral music and acting in the North Andover and Marblehead school districts. She moved to the Lehigh Valley in 2013 and began graduate studies at Moravian College in Curriculum and Instruction and Special Education, as she is dedicated to making music accessible to all students. Her teaching journey brought her to Seven Generations Charter School where she taught all things music. She is now thrilled to be part of the Charter Arts community!
Outside of school, Kate is also highly involved with the Concord Chamber Singers, a local auditioned community choir that celebrates community and storytelling through high-quality choral music. She is also an avid yogi; leading classes in various locations around the Valley. She believes we are at our best when we care for both our physical and emotional well-being, and hopes to bring this whole-student approach to her teaching in the music classroom.
