Thom Mullins has been a competitive adult figure skater for 25 years, one of nine skaters who has competed in every single US Figure Skating Adult National Championship since they began in 1995.
Thom is exceptionally talented in choreography and the theatrical side of figure skating. He has produced four annual benefit skating concerts in San Francisco, combining the talents of novice skaters with World and Olympic skaters, including Rudy Galindo, Surya Bonaly, Emanuel Sandhu, alongside Broadway singers and dancers.
Thom was Director of Marketing for The Yerba Buena Ice Center in San Francisco, CA, where he promoted skating programs, competitions, special events, and had the opportunity to work with Olympic Gold Medalist Brian Boitano’s Youth Skate Foundation.
Thom is especially experienced working with youth arts programs, including the San Francisco Youth Arts Festival. He was named the San Francisco Business Arts Council’s Volunteer of the Year for his outstanding work with Young Audiences. His connection to the arts extends to his role as Publisher for arts magazines, covering everything from the Ballet, to the Opera, to the Symphony, to the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco.
He is a member of the Professional Skaters Association and is a CER-A eligible coach through US Figure Skating, most recently coaching skating at Body Zone Sports and Wellness Center in Wyomissing, PA. Thom has studied with coaches including Professional World Champion Rénee Roca, Olympic Silver Medalist Charlie Tickner, NHK Trophy Winner Angelo d’Agostino and Canadian phenom Louis Vachon.
Thom brings a wealth of media knowledge, having graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, earning degrees in Journalism and Radio-TV-Film, with graduate work in Education, while securing lifetime teaching credentials. He has also taught high school Journalism, English and Speech Communications.
