Lauren Sheldon completed her undergraduate work at Lafayette College, graduating with an English major, French minor, and secondary education certificate. After college, she taught English and 21st century skills at North Hunterdon High School in Annandale, New Jersey for 13 years. She worked closely with teams of teachers to develop and revise curriculum and to infuse her classrooms with student-centered, technology-enriched lessons. During her tenure at North Hunterdon, Ms. Sheldon completed her Masters of Educational Leadership through Centenary University and currently holds certificates as a supervisor and K-12 principal.
Ms. Sheldon believes much of the high school experience expands beyond the walls of a classroom. In her previous school communities, some of her most meaningful connections have formed through musical theater, student clubs, and athletics. Ms. Sheldon has enjoyed behind the scenes work as a stage crew supervisor and even returning to the stage herself as an alumnus at Lafayette College. With a love for literary arts and a passion for social justice, she enjoys student-led coffee houses and poetry slams. And she has even explored the martial arts as a fencing coach during the last few years, in addition to coaching soccer and lacrosse. As an administrator, Ms. Sheldon’s goal is to support students on their artistic and academic journeys, always encouraging them to be safe, respectful, responsible, professional, and creative members of the incredible Charter Arts community.
