Just 2 spots left!
Calling all Super-Fans! Comic book character creation and strange new world-building are at the heart of this Summer Academy workshop with Literary Arts teacher and graphic novelist Scott Beatty, who has authored hundreds of adventures for many of comics’ most iconic characters including Batman and Robin tales for DC Comics, as well as The Phantom, Buck Rogers, and Sherlock Holmes for Dynamite Entertainment. Beatty has also contributed comic book stories to IDW Publishing, Dark Horse Comics, and Crossgen Comics. You’ll learn about the history of comic books, how graphic novels are produced, and then you’ll create the secret origin of your own character and chronicle their first adventure in script and art! Students will get to showcase their creations during a short ‘talk-back’ session, pitching their work just like comics pros, with parents and families on the final day of class!
