Congratulations to Isavel Mendoza who won the National Poetry Out Loud competition May 7th in Washington, D.C.! This has been an exciting journey for Isa who won the Charter Arts competition in December and then went on to win the regional and state competitions.
The National Finals, hosted by the National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature Mac Barnett, were held May 6 & 7. One champion from every state and U.S. territory competed in the semifinals. Only nine finalists moved onto the finals.

The Charter Arts Music Department had a rewarding and fun trip to the Music in the Parks Festival held recently in Virginia.
The Charter Arts Treble Choir, Wind Ensemble, and Orchestra won their categories. Orchestra also placed second out of all string ensemble/full orchestras. Wind Ensemble won best overall band and Treble Choir won best overall choir!

Bravo and congratulations to Isa Mendoza for winning the “Poetry Out Loud’ state competition held on March 3, 2025! Isa will now move on to compete at the national competition taking place in Washington, D.C. in May.

The Charter Arts Music Department is excited to share that its Jazz Ensemble received a rating of Excellent at Sunday’s SteelStacks High School Jazz Showcase.
The ensemble also received the award for Best Rhythm Section. Additionally, Michael Albanese received the award for Best Rhythm Section Soloist in this preliminary round.

PMEA NEWS: Emmalee Arvelo and Victoria Ticker participated in the PMEA District 10 Chorus Festival. John Stana, Rylee Tatro and Stephanie Morykin participated in the PMEA District 10 Orchestra. Congratulations to these students for achieving this special honor!

Charter Arts students earned more than 80 awards this year at the East Central PA Scholastic Art Awards, earning accolades in the Gold Key, Silver Key and Honorable Mention categories. In addition, several works received nominations for the American Visions Award Congratulations to all of the winners The Scholastic Art Awards publishes its full regional list of winners to its website.
