Erica Dickson grew up in the Lehigh Valley and is a proud alum of Charter Arts. She is a lifelong lover of music, beginning piano lessons at just five years old. She earned a BM in Music Education, a BM in Music Theory & Composition, and a minor in Music History from West Chester University with concentrations in piano and oboe. At West Chester, she studied with Dr. Patricia, Powell, Dr. Henry Grabb, Dr. Robert Maggio, Dr. Marcie Major, and Dr. Jacob Cooper. While completing two years of professional teaching service in the Pennsylvania Public School System, Ms. Dickson recently completed her Masters of Music in Music Education at Temple University, primarily focusing on research methods under the mentorship of Dr. Deborah Confredo.
Ms. Dickson has had many diverse musical teaching and learning experiences and has conducted research involving music preference, classroom culture, and informal music education practices. She believes that all students of music should have the frequent opportunity to express themselves authentically, while fostering empathy, growth, and a larger commitment to social missions.
Ms. Dickson is excited and humbled to join the team of innovative educators that inspired her to pursue a lifelong career in teaching music.
