Penny Giamoni recently retired from the New Jersey public school system after a 30-year career as a Language Arts teacher at Warren Hills Regional High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Advertising from Syracuse University and a Master of Education from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. During her career, Penny served in numerous leadership roles, including Coordinator of Warren Hills’ Peer Leadership Program, founder and advisor of the Journalism Program, and coordinator of schoolwide programs focused on diversity, empathy, leadership, and school culture.
Penny has been recognized with numerous honors, including the New Jersey Governor’s Educator of the Year Award, the Joseph B. Whitehead Educator of Distinction Award, the Leadership in Diversity Award from the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office, and the Warren County Prevention Connections Award for Community Service. She was also honored with a New Jersey Senate and General Assembly Citation for her contributions to her community. After three decades of teaching and mentoring students in New Jersey, Penny is excited to begin this new chapter at Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts, where she looks forward to sharing her love of literature, writing, discussion, and the humanities with Charter Arts students and becoming part of the school’s vibrant arts community.
