Devereaux, Lorie Jane

Lorie Jane Devereaux has been a faculty member at Charter Arts high school since its inception. She received her Bachelors in Art Education from Moravian College in 2001, Masters of Figurative Painting from the Academy of Art University in 2013, and a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Moravian College in 2020. Ms. Devereaux’s M.Ed thesis entitled, Metacognition and Mentorship in Secondary Art Education is an action research study about how the artistic process and positive mentorship in an art studio impacts the development of higher level thinking in high school art students. The goal of Ms. Devereaux’s paintings and drawings are an exploration of visual poetry.
As Director of Charter Arts Visual Arts Department, she has made it her mission to develop a quality program of study that prioritizes rigor and excellence in public art education. In her role as art instructor, she strives to instill artistic tradition and art historical foundations in drawing, painting, and design all while nurturing the individual artistic voices of her students.
