Summer Screenwriting Experience  (In-Person)

Session Dates: July 19-23
Session Time: 9:30 AM-12:00 PM
Fee: $145
About the Instructor: Heath Mensher

This workshop is no longer available.

This fun summer workshop, taught by Literary Arts faculty member, Heath Mensher, is ideal for the young film buff or the young aspiring screenwriter as an entryway into the ‘reading’ and comprehension of film as a language. Exercises will include character creation and motivation, movie script tricks and philosophies, photo prompt writing, “short films of the day,” and live google-document discussion on sound and camera movement as storytelling devices. Please note that this is not a filmmaking workshop – this is about the beauty of writing and understanding movies! Open to children entering 7th-9th grades (6th grade may be considered).  This workshop will take place in-person under very strict Covid-19 precautions.

This workshop is part of Charter Arts’ Summer Academy,  a program of arts enrichment workshops that is open to the community and operates as a fundraiser for the school.  Some partial scholarships are available.  To read more about the program, scholarships and the registration, cancellation and refund policy, CLICK HERE.
